Looking for ways to get your student involved in STEM, but without the multi-day commitment? Well we have the series for you:"STEM à la carte" - a scrumptious selection of STEM sessions!

Our series is designed to be single day stand-alone STEM themed programs including (but not limited to) biology, chemistry, technology, and engineering!

STEM à la carteoffers the flexibility to choose from a variety of STEM learning topics and schedule to best meet your needs. Each session operates as a stand‑alone program, fully independent from any other day’s activities. This flexible structure allows you to register for single‑day STEM experiences without committing to a full‑week schedule!

À La Carte STEM Topic Options

Science

Biology

  • Explore fine details using EyeClops viewers or microscopes
  • Dissect seeds, plants, and other natural materials
  • Test water quality collected from local streams
  • Plant seeds and learn about photosynthesis and plant growth

Chemistry

  • Create and compare different slime formulations
  • Use baking soda and vinegar to launch rockets or build paper‑mâché volcanoes
  • Experiment with water‑pressure rockets
  • Dissolve eggshells using household safe chemicals to explore chemical reactions

Technology

Sphero Robotics

  • Open exploration time to experiment with Sphero robots
  • Guided lessons using block‑based coding
  • Navigate obstacle courses or mazes using programmed commands

Gravity in Action

  • Design and test the “perfect” paper airplane with a longest‑flight challenge
  • Test drones through guided challenges and mission‑based tasks
  • Build a roller coaster for marbles

Circuits

  • Build potato batteries
  • Create conductive and insulating circuits using Squishy Circuits dough
  • Explore inputs, outputs, and electronics using LittleBits

LEGO Robotics

  • Hands‑on building and programming with LEGO robotics systems

Engineering

Testing & Design Challenges

  • Test bridge structures with different materials and weights
  • Design and build a system to protect an object from a fall
  • Engineer an “unsinkable” boat and test buoyancy

Inventions

  • Identify real‑world problems and design creative solutions
  • Build prototypes using craft materials
  • Deliver “Shark Tank”-style pitches to share invention ideas
