Take your STEM skills to new heights in this exciting drone adventure! Set in a beautiful lakeside environment, students will explore the world of drone technology while learning how coding, engineering, and problem-solving work together to make unmanned aircraft take flight. Participants will become drone pilots, programmers, and engineers as they learn to code and test drones through a variety of fun outdoor missions and challenges.
Throughout the program, students will discover the science of flight, explore how drones are used in fields such as environmental research, mapping, search and rescue, and photography, and learn the fundamentals of coding and autonomous navigation. Working individually and in teams, participants will program drones to complete tasks, navigate courses, and respond to challenges inspired by real-world drone applications.
The lakeside setting provides a unique outdoor classroom where students can safely test their coding skills, observe drone performance in different conditions, and develop strategies to improve accuracy and efficiency. Along the way, students will practice critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and the engineering design process as they troubleshoot and refine their flight missions.
No prior coding or drone experience is necessary. Whether students are new to technology or already fascinated by flight, this hands-on program offers an engaging opportunity to explore STEM through experimentation, outdoor learning, and discovery.
Host Site Information: Delta Lake Bible Conference Center is a fully equipped youth summer camp facility that is leasing its site to us for the duration of our program. While the center traditionally operates as a faith-based camp, we will be implementing our own independent programming while utilizing their full range of summer camp recreational amenities. We partner with a variety of community locations to provide accessible learning experiences, and the facility serves as the venue for our hands‑on STEM programming.
